Already left a comment about that. Reposting here.
Why a dislike button in the first place? It's useless. What Ao3 need is a way to teach newcommers how to tag. More relationships tags like Squidgeworld & superlove archive do (Queerplatonic, Non Binary, VS etc). A way to filter works by "media" category (image, podfic, text, video). More archive warnings as well.
In other words, Ao3 should take a page of FF.net and others archives to improve. Adding new relationships types and archive warnings can't be that hard to do.
'ao3 needs a like and dislike button'
what you need, my algorithm-rotten minded friend, is a grip

So people who follow me for my Ao3 fics, I have come to you today to say I have received my very first podfic, by "@ItsYaBoiMothMan" the best name ever, honestly.
They were kind enough to not laugh the entire time as they recorded:
Summary:
Now, his parents hadn't exactly been around to give Tim any "talk" that you usually gave your pubery-ridden tween/ early teens when hormones start acting up, and his school didn't actually offer sex ed, so Tim made do with what he had.
The internet.

OR: Tim Drake is inexperienced with affection and relationships, and upon becoming nauseas one morning, naturally assumed he could only possibly be pregnant, naturally! His hypothesis also seems to be the cure for the Lazarus Pit, coincidentally
And, OF COURSE, the podfic:
If you like a heavy dose of crack with your enemy to caretaker Jason Todd & Tim Drake (platonic) fics, here you are!

I once read an amazing fic only to get to the end where the main character the story followed died. Major character death was NOT tagged, and the author’s reasoning was “I didn’t want to spoil the story/ending. And besides, it’s a mob story. What were you thinking, that it got a happy ending?”
At the time of my reading it, I was not in the right mental place for an emotionally painful ending. Had I knowing that there was major character death and a tragic ending, I would’ve saved it for a day that I WAS in a good space mentally for it.
It was still a good fic, but being blindsided like that SUCKS and I feel like I didn’t get to enjoy the fic to the fullest potential because of it.
Please, tag your fics.
AO3 👏 TAGS 👏 ARE 👏 NOT 👏 SPOILERS 👏
i’m so tired of authors not tagging correctly because they don’t want to “spoil the fic”
correctly tagging your fic allows readers who DON’T want to read things like major character death, gore, mpreg or whatever may be their squick to filter your fic out from the main ship/fandom tag. not including the correct tags on your fic is harmful to readers and i’m tired of pretending it’s not.
“don’t like don’t read” great! i won’t! tag your fic correctly next time ffs

The only quibble I have with the included and excluded tags filter in search is that sometimes I have to do it sooooo many times because they only show such a small amount of the possible options at one time. And sometimes that makes searching really hard when I only have vague memories of a fic and can't for sure exclude some tags, but I've reached the limit so I have to exclude *something* and hope it wasn't a tag that specific fic had...
The excluded tags filter on Ao3 is such a fucking lifesaver. I love it so much.

What does the dead dove tag mean?
Wonderful question!
“Dead Dove” comes from this scene in Arrested Development wherein the character Michel Bluth opens a brown paper bag that reads: DEAD DOVE: DO NOT EAT. He looks inside and sees what is in fact, a dead dove. The then says: “Well, I don’t know what I expected.”
In fandom, the tag has come to mean: “pay extra attention to the tags!” And/or “this fic is what it says on the tin!”.
So if, for example, a fic includes the tags: Body Horror, Gore, and Violence along with the Dead Dove: Do Not Eat tag, the author is saying “Hey I’m not joking about these tags! Read at your own discretion!”
The tag acts as an honest intensifier to whatever tags are already in the work, as the author using it wants to give a double warning for their content, that it may be triggering and that the reader should proceed with caution.
One fic tagged with Dead Dove: Do Not Eat, also includes the tags: Seriously, this fic deals with some serious and disturbing content matter, mind the tags

Thanks for asking and happy reading!
